Welcome
Ayn Rand (1905–1982) was a Russian-American novelist and philosopher with a profoundly unique world view, which she expressed in a lifetime of writing, most famously in her novels The Fountainhead (1943) and Atlas Shrugged (1957).
“My philosophy, in essence, is the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute.” — Ayn Rand
Ayn Rand’s fiction gives us inspiring visions of heroes who fight for their values against the odds. But underlying her novels is a system of thought which rises above the stale ivory-tower debates and false alternatives of much of conventional philosophy, and challenges crucial aspects of modern culture at the deepest level. In an age when reason, self-interest and individual freedom are under relentless attack from every quarter, her ideas have never been more relevant.
The Ayn Rand Forum is an organisation which aims to promote the literature and philosophy of Ayn Rand in the United Kingdom. We support, but are neither supported nor recognised by, the Ayn Rand Institute, the world’s premier think-tank for the study of Rand’s ideas.
We organise public events, and promote Ayn Rand’s work in British intellectual organisations such as think-tanks, universities and schools.
